With a clear diagnosis as a starting point, the underlying principles of Nutrition, Detoxification, Tonification, Energetic Awareness and the Use of Specifics are key strategies for successful herbal healing. Whether you are exploring self-care or wishing to consult with a professional, in this workshop you will learn about these strategies and the preparations of medicinal herbs that are examples of this way of holistic care. Dr. Fred Siciliano began his study of Japanese acupuncture, western and Chinese herbs, and macrobiotic nutrition in 1977. In 1979, he continued his studies in acupuncture and oriental medicine at Samra University of Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles. In 1980, Dr. Fred met his mentor in medicinal herbology, the late Sidney Yudin. Fred received a Masters degree in Herbology in 1982 and continued to study and apprentice with Sidney Yudin until 1988. In 1983, after completing post-graduate training in acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Dr. Fred received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree (OMD) from Samra University. Starting in 1988, he began formulating herbal capsules, teas and liniments. Today, he prescribes and prepares herbal formulas specific to the condition and needs of each patient.
